“KATRINA BUSINESS GUIDELINES ”ENDORSED BY SOCIAL INVESTMENT FORUM TO ENCOURAGE JUST, FAIR REBUILDING OF HURRICANE-STRICKEN AREAS

Troubled in the wake of the recent hurricanes by waivers of the federal laws and rules governing the environment, affirmative action and fair wages, the 500-member Social Investment Forum today endorsed a package of “Katrina Business Guidelines” for Gulf Coast region rebuilding “based on core values that have long been at the heart of American society: justice, fairness, equal opportunity, and a respect for laws created through American democratic process.” News Release

"2004 PROXY SEASON SEES UNPRECEDENTED SURGE OF PENSION FUND ACTION ON SOCIAL, ENVIRONMENTAL RESOLUTIONS"

The 2004 proxy season ushered in a dramatic surge of public pension fund support for global warming, workplace, and other social and environmental resolutions, according to a mid-year analysis from the Social Investment Forum. Other highlights noted by the Forum for the first half of 2004 included continued strong performance of socially responsible mutual funds and recognition for the work of “community investing” in African-American communities across the United States. BOOSTED BY "COMMUNITY INVESTING" CAPITAL

gap faced by many women running businesses and nonprofits in the United States and abroad is emerging in the form of “community investing.” Today, the Community Investing Campaign, a project of the Social Investment Forum Foundation and Co-op America, singled out 11 organizations that "best exemplify the building of economic opportunity and hope for individuals through community investing."  News Release
